The Talent Experience & Culture Specialist contributes to a strong, values driven and inclusive organizational culture by developing, enhancing and providing advice, guidance and support to People Leaders and employees in areas that elevate the employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle – including recruitment, onboarding, wellness, recognition, employee engagement and offboarding programs. 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

1. Talent Acquisition & Program Management

  • Manages full-cycle recruitment and onboarding programs, including HRIS tools, materials, and process improvements.
  • Advises hiring managers, develop recruitment strategies, sources and shortlists candidates, conducts interviews and assessments, recommends salaries, completes reference/bonding checks, and prepares offers.
  • Manages candidate communication, including supporting hiring managers with turndowns.
  • Builds and maintains strong internal and external talent pipelines through networking, industry outreach, job fairs, and partnerships with educational institutions.
  • Coordinates internship, co-op, and work-placement programs, including agreements and ongoing check-ins.
  • Delivers HR Orientation and coordinates organization-wide onboarding, ensuring documentation, HRIS tasks, and checklist items are completed.
  • Develops and maintains department-specific onboarding pathways, tools, and resources in partnership with Talent Development & Culture.
  • Supports the review and maintenance of job descriptions and competency frameworks.

2. Employee Experience

  • Manages voluntary offboarding, including coordination with IT and Payroll, conducting exit interviews, and preparing resignation or retirement announcements.
  • Supports the biennial employee engagement survey, including planning, data analysis, reporting, and follow-up action planning.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and deliver wellness initiatives and the Employee Recognition program.
  • Contributes to employer branding efforts and complete “Best Employer” and similar industry surveys.
  • Leads planning and execution of the annual employee appreciation event, overseeing all logistics and day-of coordination.
  • Prepares weekly HR announcements and internal job postings to promote engagement and awareness of HR initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a post-secondary certificate or diploma program in Human

Resources and have 5-7 years related experience including: 

  • Advanced level of discretion and confidentiality in handling personal information and personnel matters, situations and discussions
  • Advanced communications skills (oral, written, presentation and facilitation)
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office 365 Applications
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Advanced knowledge of all applicable HR related legislation and regulations
  • Proficient critical thinking, decision making and ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Proficient in the use of an HRIS and/or specific talent modules (ie: Applicant Tracking, Onboarding and/or Recruitment specific)
  • Proficient understanding of HR practices and principles
  • Proficient in relationship building skills
